WRAP UP !!!
I guess this is my final post. The blogging assignment was fun though, probably the best in the odyssey that was LIS 2600. So Long!
Web Page Design
I thought I am done with this assignment last Saturday only to realize I still have to have the external styling or whatever it is, it never ends. The links to the instructions sent last week is not working what's up with that i don't know.
Annotated Bibliography
I am still struggling to come up with an annotated bibliography of 125 items for LIS 2500. What a challenge I thought I had finished only to realize I still have thirty more items to add so I better get busy.
Last Week at SIS
This is my last week at SIS, isn't it amazing time flies so fast it is unbelievable. I have one more class to go and that's it. Hope I get a job soon though I have lots of ideas which I'll like to put to use soon.
Catching up
I am using this week to catch up on everything, not sure how many blog posts I should have. I have about 31 now but I am assuming I should have 36 in all since it was supposed to be for 12 weeks, well I have to get busy and put in more posts.
Year at SIS
It has been a long haul but I have enjoyed my year at SIS. I met wonderful people, learned a lot and hope to use what I have learned in my future career. LIS 2600 was a real challenge but heh we have to live and learn.

Recognition
Attended the recognition ceremony on Friday so forgot to post my 3rd installment for last week, too much going on so easy to forget, hope Dr Tomer will understand I'll try and post more this week for the grand finale. Managed to finish my Thoreau assignment though it was a struggle I am proud of myself I made my own Web page.

Tired in WV
At this time I can really tell I am very tired, barely able to carry on but I am holding on. I can't even keep track of my postings anymore, with assignments due here and there things are getting fuzzy.

Winding Down
I already feel like things are winding down. I am looking forward to a nice long holiday in August just to take it easy and relax. Hope I'll have found a job then that will make it more relaxing, no worries, just enjoy life for a change.

Two Weeks to go
I cannot believe it is only two weeks left to complete the summer session, it's been a long hard slog, but it's been worth it. I'll need a long relaxing break from all this at the end, better start planning for things to do.

TGIF
Thank God it's Friday this week has been hectic for me. Had some interviews and assignments to complete, still haven't figured out the Feed2JS thing yet, hope to get some explanations tomorrow so that I can proceed on the assignment.

Finishing Hard
This week is hectic, got two job interviews and search and seize 3 due at the same time. I have to find sources for a crazy bunch of quotations. Who will ask such questions at a reference desk, but I guess we have to be prepared for anything. It seems overwhelming but will some how manage to survive all three.

Busy Busy Busy
Gosh! it's been one busy summer. Couldn't even enjoy the 4th of July, too many assignments I didn't even notice it was the 4th. Pity me? Four more weeks to go and I'll be free as a bird, that's the motivating factor. Enjoy the 4th.

July 2
We are in July already, isn't it amazing? I normally will like the summer to drag on, that's my favorite season but this summer I am glad it is zooming by very fast after that it is a whole new life for me. The past year has been very busy with school, papers to write readings and finally it will come to an end by the beginning of August. The downside is I need to figure out again how to spend my time. Maybe continue with job hunting.

Wednesday June 27
June is already coming to an end, how time flies. We are already halfway through the semester I can't wait for it to end, its been an eventful summer and we barely started. This article in Salon by Garrison Keillor, titled "the library fix: when politics gets mean and dumb, you can cheer yourself up by walking into a public library" cheers me up it makes me feel it's all worth it. Here is a link it's a must read for all of us.

Tidbits from ALA
I didn't attend ALA but here are some interesting tidbits coming out of there. In a session George Needham of OCLC said that college libraries should rethink many of their assumptions, speakers said that gaming skills are in many ways representative of a broader cultural divide between today’s college students and the librarians who hope to teach them. Inside Higher Ed has an interesting article on this "When ‘Digital Natives’ Go to the Library" read on...http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2007/06/25/games

Wikis in plain English
This is a very good overview of Wikis. Good instructional design. Wikis and blogs are some of the new communication tools in libraries today. I am posting the link below.

Microsoft to change desktop search
Microsoft has agreed to change the desktop search in Vista in response to Google's anti trust complaint. Good for Google they stood up to Microsoft and won.

Google and Microsoft at War
Google is alleging that Microsoft's Vista unfairly limits the choices of its competitors. It's beef is with Vista's desk top search capability which makes it difficult for people using Google desktop search. Is another anti trust suit against Microsoft in the works? Here is a link enjoy.

Last Week
Last week was a bummer, got so busy with assignments due that I only posted once on my blog, will have to catch up this week. Anyway still working on assignments for LIS2600. Firefox 3 alpha 5
Read this interesting article from NBT. Firefox 3 will be released in Fall 2007. New features are pretty cool. It includes Places, a side panel that allows control of bookmarks, RSS subscriptions and browser history in one place. Other features are the ability to back up and restore bookmarks. The bummer is it is incompatible with earkuer firefox bookmarks. If you haven't already read it enjoy if you subscribe to my blog. http://www.webware.com/8301-1_109-9726942-2.html?tag=blog

Wednesday Chat Session
This evening's chat session was very productive, got a lot of answers to my questions. The course is starting to make sense to me. Lots of the new technologies will be very useful in work situations, will serve as cheap alternatives to expensive tools like RefWorks which my library just purchased. Well got to go back to Web of Science and ENW.

WPWVC/ACRL
I attended the above meeting in Pittsburgh last Friday. Keynote speaker was Cliff Landis of Valdosta State. The presentation was titled Connect, Collaborate, Create: Making Sense (and Use) of “2.0″ http://clifflandis.net. He was really great, gave a good overview of Web 2.0 and libraries. Even went to a session on Using Blogs and RSS as professional development tools. These are the hot topics in library world now so folks we should thank Dr Tomer for exposing us to all these new technologies, could be challenging but worth it.

Marc Smith on Social Networking
This new basement tape was really interesting, its amazing all that Microsoft is researching on. However all this talk about net scan, snuff, community buzz and social accounting metadata to track patterns of social computing sounds a bit scary to me. Isn't that encroaching on peoples privacy. Pt. 2 is rather progressive, spot me.com will be cool.

End of May Already!!!
I can't believe May has already ended. Spring and Summer are my most favorite seasons, don't like August 'cos it signals the end of Summer. I was just reading ALA Direct and found this interesting CNN story, check it out!

del.icio.us and zotero
I have finally gotten a hang of what I am doing for these assignments. I have been able to link some articles and I am starting to realize how powerful a tool these social bookmarking tools are for the library profession. Presents various ideas for workshops for both faculty and students to train them in the use of these tools. I cannot use Zotero at work though, since we are not allowed by our Systems department to download stuff. I'll see if I can convince them to download Zotero for me. It will be ahandy tool for me.

3rd week
I just had a very busy weekend. I had the first weekend of bibliographic instruction class. The course is very interesting, full of activity which made the day go fast. Had to work Sunday evening also, didn't seem like a long week end for me at.

Google reader
Google reader is very cool, actually I am enjoying using it. This blogging thing is actually fun, I think I am really getting a hang on things now. These first two weeks has been really busy, the 24 hours in a day didn't seem to be enough for me. Anyway I survived, hoorah.
2nd week of LIS 2600
So far I have managed to keep my sanity, that means I'll be able to survive this class. The amount of work involved is daunting. Anyway things are starting to get clearer, now that I have my textbook and all.

Wondering around
I just got back from my travels in Europe the past two weeks during the break, so imagine me coming back to all the stuff we have to set up for LIS 2600. Some of the names sounds Greek to me but hey I'll survive this course. I haven't set up my own blog before. I do occasionally blog on my work blog. It is kind of fascinating though.
